The issue of cyber-security for critical infrastructure from the perspective of utilizing biometric systems - using one of the best algorithms employed in national and international systems as an example

These topics are particularly relevant in the current international situation, as regardless of the high cybersecurity threats, we must ensure the proper application of European regulations guaranteeing the right to the protection of personal data, including images and sensitive biometric data. According to Check Point Research, the number of cyberattacks worldwide is at its highest in two years, averaging 1258 per week. Importantly, in the second quarter of 2023, it increased by 8% compared to the same period last year. Europe is considered the region with the highest growth in attacks, exceeding 21% year-on-year. In Poland alone, in the second quarter of 2023, there were 33% more cyber incidents than in the second quarter of 2022. According to estimates by the European Commission, the annual cost of cybercrime for the global economy in 2020 was 5.5 billion euros.
